Violinist, composer, and music producer Gower Sun enjoys a diverse career encompassing classical music, hybrid-orchestral film scores, and music production.
He has performed with numerous ensembles, including the Vancouver Symphony, Waco Symphony, Vancouver Film Orchestra and the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. Notably, in 2019, Gower and his chamber group, Trio Müvészeti, received the honor of representing British Columbia at the Canadian National Music Competition. He was the concertmaster of the Langley Symphony Orchestra until its dissolution during the pandemic. Gower holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance Degree under full scholarship from Baylor University, with additional studies in composition and electroacoustic music.
Combining his appreciation for diverse musical genres, Gower’s composition and production styles are characterized by the fusion of traditional symphonic elements with ethnic instruments and electronic sound design. He has lent his musical voice to clients such as Sony Music Entertainment Japan, HoYoverse/MiHoYo, Yostar, etc., contributing to a range of projects spanning soundtracks, film scores, and independent productions. As a recording artist, Gower actively performs both in his own works and those of his colleagues.
Gower has taught violin at all levels, from string section coach for the Vancouver Youth Philharmonic Orchestra to private music lessons. His students have been awarded the Royal Conservatory Regional Gold Medal for the Highest Exam Mark and have won awards at regional music festivals. Gower’s dedication to music education extends to his involvement in the editorial committee of 'A Million Joyful Musicians', a comprehensive violin method textbook taught worldwide.
Gower plays on an Italian violin attributed to the Testore family (c.1750).
