Violinist, composer, and music producer Gower Sun enjoys a diverse career encompassing classical music, film scores, and hybrid-orchestral music.
He has performed with numerous ensembles, including the Vancouver Symphony, Waco Symphony, and the Vancouver Film Orchestra. Notably, in 2019, Gower and his chamber group, Trio Müvészeti, received the honor of representing BC at the Canadian National Music Competition. He was the concertmaster of the Langley Symphony Orchestra until its dissolution during the pandemic. Gower holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance Degree under full scholarship from Baylor University, with additional studies in composition and electroacoustic music.
Combining his appreciation for diverse musical genres, Gower Sun's composition and production styles are characterized by the fusion of traditional symphonic elements with ethnic instruments and electronic sound design. He actively performs as a recording artist in film scores and independent productions, both within his own works and those of his colleagues.
Gower has taught violin at all levels, from private lessons to string section coach for the Vancouver Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. His students have been awarded the Royal Conservatory Regional Gold Medal for the Highest Exam Mark and have won awards at local music festivals. Gower’s dedication to music education extends to his involvement in the editorial committee of 'A Million Joyful Musicians', a comprehensive violin method textbook taught worldwide.
Gower plays on an Italian violin attributed to the Testore family (c.1750).
